The #WhatWeNeed campaign in Lahore, Pakistan consisted of a series of picture messages and videos. The main objective was to provide persons with psycho-social disabilities a platform to be able to think and recognize their rights. The campaign was the first in the fact that it was the first time a right based approach was to be transmitted to persons with psycho-social disabilities. Pakistan is very much merged in the medical model and therefore launching a right based approach in the form of the #WhatWeNeed campaign was a pilot project where persons with psycho-social disabilities presented their rights.
The response was great. The focus audience was the youth and the rights presented were a form of a voice that came from the masses. Some the participants commented that this was perhaps the first time they ever actually thought about their rights.
